Copyright and abuse reports
How to report content on a site we host, what we do with the report, and what happens to the account behind it.

HostCrafter is a hosting provider. We do not create, choose or review what our customers publish — but when we are told that something we host is infringing or abusive, we act.
One address handles all of it: [email protected]. That is where copyright notices, trademark complaints, counter-notices, legal notices and requests from authorities should go. Reports of technical abuse — malware, phishing, spam, attacks — are faster at [email protected].
Sending a copyright notice
We act on notices under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 and its rules, and on notices in the form used by the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act. You do not need a lawyer to write one. You do need to include all of this, or we cannot act on it:
- Your name, postal address, email and phone number.
- Identification of the work you own — with a link to where it legitimately appears, if there is one.
- The exact URLs of the infringing material on a site we host. Not a homepage: the pages or files themselves.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Send it to [email protected] with Copyright notice in the subject.
Please be accurate. A notice is a legal statement, and a false one can carry liability for the person who sent it.
What we do with it
- We acknowledge within 24 hours and check the notice is complete.
- We pass it to the customer and normally give them a short, defined period to remove the material themselves — under Indian law that period is 36 hours for a valid complaint, and we work to it.
- If they do not act, we disable access to the material. Where the whole site is the problem, we suspend the site.
- We tell you what we did.
We forward the notice to the customer in full, including your contact details, because they have a right to know who is complaining and to answer it. If that is a problem for you, say so before you send it and we will discuss what we can redact.
If you are the customer, and you think the notice is wrong
Reply to us with a counter-notice: your contact details, the material that was removed and where it was, and why you believe you have the right to publish it — you own it, you are licensed, or the use is fair dealing.
We are a host, not a court. We cannot decide who is right. What we can do is restore the material where the counter-notice is credible and the complainant does not pursue it, and tell both of you that a genuine dispute belongs in front of someone who can rule on it.
Repeat infringement
One valid notice is usually a mistake or a plugin that scraped something. A pattern is not.
An account that attracts repeated valid notices is closed, permanently and without a refund — and we keep a record of it, so it does not reopen the next day under a different email address. The privacy policy says what that record holds.
Sites whose purpose is infringement — pirated films, music, courses, software, nulled themes and plugins, key generators, or an index pointing at them — are removed on discovery, without waiting for anyone to complain. That is in the acceptable use policy too.
Trademarks and domain squatting
If a domain hosted here uses your trademark or your name to impersonate you, divert your traffic, or be sold back to you, write to [email protected] with the domain, your trademark registration or evidence of your rights, and what the site is doing.
We can act on the hosting where the purpose is plainly abusive — impersonating a brand, a bank or a government service is removed quickly. We cannot transfer or cancel a domain registration: that sits with the registrar, and a genuine ownership dispute is decided through the UDRP or INDRP process rather than by us. We will tell you which registrar to approach.
Requests from courts and authorities
Send them to [email protected]. We answer lawful requests from Indian authorities, and credible requests from foreign authorities where the law permits.
We ask for the legal basis, we check the request is genuine, and we give the narrowest answer that satisfies it. We tell the customer that a request was made unless we are forbidden from doing so.
Material that sexualises or endangers a child is the exception to every process on this page: it is removed immediately on discovery or report, the account is closed permanently without refund, and it is reported to the authorities.
