1Start with your brand
The best domain is the name people already call you. If your business is Sunrise Bakery, sunrisebakery.com beats bestbreadinpune.com — it is what customers will try first.
2Keep it short
Every extra letter is another chance to mistype it. Aim for something you can say in one breath and type on a phone without looking twice.
3Make it easy to say and spell
Read it out loud to someone. If they have to ask how it is spelt, you will be spelling it out on every call for as long as you own it.
4Skip hyphens and numbers
sunrise-bakery-24.com is hard to say and easy to get wrong. People forget hyphens, and nobody knows whether you meant 4 or four.
5Take the .com if it's available
It is still the extension people type by default. If the .com is taken, .net or .org are good second choices — and the search shows you all of them at once.
6Register it before you announce it
A name you have mentioned in public can be registered by someone else the same afternoon. Search, buy, then tell people.

What a domain is
The name people type to find you. It is registered by the year, in your name, and stays yours for as long as you renew it.
Domain and hosting are two things
The domain is the address; hosting is where the website actually lives. You need both, and they do not have to come from the same place.

Domain questions
Do I need to buy my domain from you?
No. You can point a domain from any registrar at us and nothing about your hosting works less well. Buying it here just means one account and one invoice.
Is the domain mine?
Yes. It is registered in your name, and you can transfer it away anytime with no transfer-out fee.
What does it cost to renew?
The renewal price is in the table on this page, next to the first-year price, and in the search results before you pay. Renewal prices can change — when a registry raises what it charges, for example — and we invoice and email you before every renewal, so you always see the price first.
What happens if I forget to renew?
We invoice and email you before the expiry date. If it lapses, the website and email on it stop working; most extensions then allow a short grace period to renew at the normal price, followed by a redemption period with a much higher registry fee. Keep auto-renew on unless you mean to let it go.
Can I transfer my domain to you?
Not online yet. You do not need to: keep the domain where it is and point it here, and your site and email work exactly as well.
Can I get a refund on a domain?
No. The fee goes to the registry the moment the name is created and cannot be reversed — the same at every registrar. If a name is taken between your search and your payment, you are refunded in full.
Can I use Cloudflare in front?
Yes. Point Cloudflare at us and set SSL to Full (strict) — we issue a real certificate on our side, so there is no reason to run it in the weaker modes.
