WP AI Bridge
A free WordPress plugin that connects Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI apps to your site over MCP — and lets them do only what you allow.
From install to your first chat
Install the plugin
Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate WP AI Bridge.
Get free MCP approval
One click in AI Bridge. The MCP server checks that your WordPress really answers at its address, then lists it.
Add a connection
Name it after the AI app, choose what it may do, how the app signs in and how long it lasts.
Paste it into your AI app
The plugin shows the steps for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI.
What the plugin gives you
Five connections
One for each AI app you use, each with its own name, permissions, expiry and log.
Three ways to sign in
A private address, a sign-in you approve in wp-admin, or an address with a secret header.
Permissions you choose
Read only, content, content and site, or each of twenty permissions on its own.
A log on your site
Every tool call, which connection made it and whether it worked. Kept in your WordPress, not on our server.
Careful by default
Drafts unless you ask to publish, the trash instead of deleting, and no email address or password ever leaves the site.
Any host
Any WordPress 6.2 or later on HTTPS, with PHP 7.4 or later.
What an AI app can do, if you allow it
- Read, write and change posts, pages and custom post types
- Add images from a web address and edit their titles and alt text
- Add categories and tags
- Approve, hold, spam or trash comments
- See users and roles, without their email addresses
- List plugins and turn them on or off
- Read and change the main settings (never the site address or admin email)
- List themes and switch the active one
- Create menus and add links to them
- Read site health and scheduled tasks, and clear caches
What mcp.hostcrafter.com allows each site
| Free | |
|---|---|
| Connections per site | 5 — a sixth replaces the oldest |
| Tool calls a day | 300 per site, back at 00:00 UTC |
| Tool calls a minute | 60 per site |
| At the same time | One tool call per site; the next one waits |
| A connection nobody uses | Removed after 30 days |
| A site that stops checking in | Removed after 90 days |
An app that goes over a limit is told how long to wait, in a message it can read.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. The plugin is free and open source (GPL-2.0-or-later), and so is the MCP service it uses, within the limits above.
What does the MCP server store?
Your site's address, the server address it registered from, and each connection's name, permissions and dates — never what the connection did. The privacy page lists every item.
Can I see what an AI app did?
Yes: AI Bridge → Logs on your site, per connection. Up to 10 MB is kept; the oldest entries go first.
What happens if I deactivate the plugin?
Your site is taken off the MCP server at once and every connection stops working.
Do you see my content?
Requests pass through our server between your AI app and your site, encrypted to your site on the way in. Nothing of them is stored or logged on the server.
Running more than one site?
On HostCrafter, one connection reaches five websites and your hosting panel, with no daily limit.
