From install to your first chat
Install the plugin
Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate Better MCP.
Get free MCP approval
One click in Better MCP. The MCP server checks that your WordPress really answers at its address, then lists it.

What the plugin gives you
Five connections
One for each AI app you use, each with its own name, permissions, expiry and log. To add a sixth, remove one.
Three ways to sign in
A private address, a sign-in you approve in wp-admin, or an address with a secret header.
Permissions you choose
Read only, content, content and site, or each of 27 permissions on its own.
A log on your site
Every tool call, sign-in and connection change, which connection made it and whether it worked. Kept in your WordPress, not on our server.
Careful by default
Drafts unless you ask to publish, the trash instead of deleting, and no email address or password ever leaves the site.
Any host
Any WordPress 6.2 or later on HTTPS, with PHP 7.4 or later.
What an AI app can do, if you allow it (66 tools)
- Read, write and change posts, pages and custom post types; duplicate them; restore revisions
- Find and replace across content, with a dry run first
- Read and set SEO titles and descriptions in Yoast SEO, Rank Math or SEOPress
- Read and set custom fields, including Advanced Custom Fields
- Add images from a web address and edit their titles, alt text and captions
- Add and rename categories, tags and other terms
- Approve, hold, spam, trash and reply to comments
- WooCommerce: change products, prices and stock; read orders (no customer contact details) and move them on
- List plugins, turn them on or off, update plugins and themes, install plugins from WordPress.org
- Read theme files and edit Additional CSS
- Read and change settings and plugin options (never the site address, admin email or secrets)
- Create menus and add links to them
- Read site health, scheduled tasks and the error log, and clear caches
- Anything else through the WordPress REST API, and abilities other plugins offer

An app that goes over a limit is told how long to wait, in a message it can read.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. The plugin is free and open source (GPL-2.0-or-later), and so is the MCP service it uses, within the limits above.
What does the MCP server store?
Your site's address, the server address it registered from, and each connection's name, permissions and dates — never what the connection did. The privacy page lists every item.
Can I see what an AI app did?
Yes: Better MCP → Logs on your site, per connection, sign-ins and connection changes included. Up to 10 MB is kept; the oldest entries go first. You can clear one connection's entries or all of them.
What happens if I deactivate the plugin?
It asks first. Pause keeps your connections — they stop answering until you activate the plugin again. Revoke everything takes your site off the MCP server at once. Deleting the plugin always takes the site off.
Do you see my content?
Requests pass through our server between your AI app and your site, encrypted to your site on the way in. Nothing of them is stored or logged on the server.
I use WP AI Bridge. What happens?
WP AI Bridge is now Better MCP. Installing Better MCP moves your site and its connections over by itself and switches WP AI Bridge off; the addresses already in your AI apps keep working.
